Shabby chic bedroom

Ok, I just finished painting our guest bed room. I want to go with a shabby chic style. What do you think for curtains and art work?

If the quilt isn't needed for use, how about hanging it on the wall behind the bed as a headboard. Then pull a fun color from the quilt for duck cloth curtains (pink or turquoise)? Then use that color for accent pillows on bed. Like the pictures you've shown, but think they're too small for above bed.

The pictures look to be in proportion to me. And they look good for the style you want. Trace them on brown paper and tape the paper to wall to see if they are a good size and how you would like to hang them. However the idea of hanging the quilt is good also, and perhaps the pics could go on a different wall.
That is a lot of window you have there! How do you like it?

How about hanging all four pics above the trunk? What else is on that wall...closet or dresser?
I don't have z dresser yet... And u have to keep the curtains pretty neutral because the huge windows are facing the front of the house. Here's a few more pics. Love your ideas btw. I do plan on getting a dresser and putting it where the trunk is. Also, getting different closet doors than the mirrors:) door will eventually be painting white like the trim too!

I like the oval photos for over the bed, maybe hang the quilt on the big wall, tapestry style. As for the windows... Are those shades? If so I wouldn't hang curtains other than maybe sheers/lacey. They will close the room up.
Actually if your putting a dresser there you won't need to put the quilt on the wall at all.
And you could just put one drape panel on one or both side of window. I'm sure you've seen that on here.

Thinking even tho I have a rod iron headboard, you can't see it when the beds made. What about making a creme color fabric headboard and laying the quilt in it.
We haven't got curtains yet. It's just wide open. They have wood around windows.
You have a Wrought iron headboard, for your future reference. Too bad it doesn't show. A colorful rug would soften in feeling and brighten the room. Simple panels hung from wrought iron rod would soften, too

Love shabby chic and have done a lot! Would definetly go with either a sheet window covering or some bring like this with different panels also maybe mirrors on the walls?
Cute ideas! Thanks Patricia... I'm a idiot... Wrought iron... Ok ok :)

    Lol

In order to get a more shabby chic vibe, you should paint the furniture white.

I love the idea of old window panes to display photos or art behind. I also like the idea of boho shaby chic curtains. Have fun !

Thanks mark I like your ideas. I am going to make sure to paint the dresser white. The end table and trunk will be the only thing brown. I'll probably remove rocking chair altogether and just find s unique white stool. I like having something guest can sit in to put their shoes on etc:)

Mark I actually have two old doors in my master as my headboard. :)

Try the oval pix behind the lamp at the bedside. Could use them either side of the closet too. Might stencil a lattice over the closet doors. Hang the quilt opposite the windows until the other piece of furniture arrives.

    oh, hello again Janelle
at least I think it is you..
OVAL FRAMES: great bedspread..btw, I too like the two ovals side by side above the bed.. would you consider painting the frames off white or are they heirloom frames (can't tell from the photo.)
    Glad you are continuing on....
are you going to hang the birdcage in there?

HEADBOARD: oh, noticed the nice headboard...If you take your sleeping pillows from the bed and
put them in closet, you could just have shams lying flat and then you might see a little of the bedframe. (just an idea)
DOILLIES: don't you think a couple of them would look nice
    under your lamp and picture.?
Hey Christopher! I am planning on hanging the oval pieces over the bed. And maybe using the birdcage in there. So, this is what I'm thinking. Making a fabric headboard and possibly putting the quilt folded on it. Picture behind end table with a glass bowl lamp... That's my thought

How about a chic wallpaper on the wall behind the bed?

I think the quilt should go on the wall where the trunk is. Will give your guests something colorful to look at. Over the bed, a collection of 4 flower prints. And simple white curtains. Oh, and colorful pillows.

Well, I think your guests would love your idea Janelle.! Sounds nice..I like the soft pink..some
people have a hard time with pink (they usually over do it) but yours is a beautiful
neutral. what color are you thinking for the headboard?

At least this room is a lot less complicated. Have you ever thought of purchasing a large canvas and doing one large flower in pink/burgundy?...after seeing what you have done, bet you could pull that off.
(i have been going through thousands of art
prints trying to find something perfect for a French country kitchen) I keep going back to the classic Van Gogh sunflowers :) oh well I really enjoy the challenge.
Van Gogh is my favorite artist! I would love to incorporate one of his paintings. Not sure on color of headboard. I was going to just go and see what pops out to me. And of course I need colorful pillows. In time... I have to get curtains first! I do want to stick with just light colors. And eventually get a dresser for the wall where the trunk is

I would love to get blinds but we are slowly buying plantation shutters and they are so expensive. Curtains will be less expensive. They need to be cream. To blend with the rest if the curtains.

remember if these curtains are to do double duty for privacy, that you will probably require enough fabric to cover at least 3 1/2 times the width of window. i have been trying to download a few photos but it
    is not working right now.:(
Color: be careful not to go too creamy..oyster may be better.. it won't
clash with the white backgound of bedding and quilt..good fun! :)

    I too have shutters...wonderful...best money ever spent$$$$$$
did oyster instead of pure white and they are wonderful, although
I did do white in the bathroom.
are you going with lace or just what you can find?
homedepot.com and lowes.com for sizing and pricing:)
What I can find at a reasonable price. My mother in law is coming into town this weekend, so hopefully she will want to go in on them:)

    Hi Janelle
Hope you have pictures of your Mother in law on display :) :)

did you check outLoews and Home Depot on line?

am I repeating myself?...because you require multiples,
they will probably have enough of one style. Good Luck with your search
