Kitchen Tiles

Hi this is my first post here and this has been such a great source of inspiration for us in renovating our house but we ran into a sort of bump lately with our kitchen ... we are not really sure whether to go with tiles or not and what should the color of the tiles be ?
Known that, the cabinets are Mocha brown (as shown in the photo) and the counter top is black galaxy granite.
I hope some of you might be able to help me and thanks in advance...

To be frank, it's hard to suggest without seeing the whole. These things don't happen in a vaccum, so one item makes it hard. If you can post some photos of the whole kitchen, in daylight and artificial lighting, you'll get more pertinent responses.

at the moment the whole kitchen is under renovation and most of the walls have been ripped apart so I'm not sure if that will be of any help. The kitchen is pre designed and will be installed after the tiles..

You've got a medium tone (cabinets) and a dark tone (counters), You're missing a light tone. With your modern aesthetic, something in a light value would be great. And even something other than a neutral. Maybe something like Crossville's Retro Active in Seabreeze.

Yes you need light color, a neutral or soft accent tone. What is the floor color, light fixtures etc...?

The more I think about it the more I'm starting to feel the need for lighter colors , we were advised by the kitchen designer to place grey tiles but I'm now leaning to lighter tone.
what if the wall tiles were light beige and the floor was brown?? what do you think the backsplash should be like ? do you think a mosaic with earth tones would go well with it ?

Skip the Black Galaxy in favor of something like a pure white quartz if you want to go dark with the floors. Beware of choosing something that fades into the color and value of the cabinets. You should be able to see enough difference between them with your eyes squinted half shut that they still appear separate pieces.

Yes tiles in mosiac tumbled marble in light creams, taupe/gray, and a pinch of color (soft yellow, green or blue). That way you could accent with the pinch of color and its compliments. That could flow for your color pallet into the close areas.
