Countertop material

Beautiful picture! Love all your work. Is the countertop a standard butcher's block material? What kind of stain and/ or sealer did you use to make it so shiny? It looks like it's waterproof - more durable than typical BB countertops.

    It's heart pine. We don't know what the builder used, however, as a sealant.

    Just an FYI, butcher block oil is what is used to seal counter-tops. It's a special food safe oil made just for that purpose. I'm not sure if you can get it at the home stores; we get ours through our specialty wood suppliers that we use for our cabinets.
