I likeyour furniture, too! One thing we did is had a piece of granite cut to fit our night stands. Adds some interest and I don't have to worry about my water container sitting on wood.

I would recommend painting the ceiling. I have always hesitated to do so, but recently did that in my bathroom which has a sloped/cathedral ceiling. I love it and wish I would have done it long ago. It made a huge difference and just felt good (I know a weird explanation). Also, I didn't have to worry about lines so that part was easier.

And I agree that painting the ceiling will make a huge impact on the room. It really makes the space feel bigger which seems backwards. Once you pick your wall color, you would paint the ceiling a few shades lighter.

Too many - I painted my bath ceiling a darker greige color, and I love the coziness, plus of course the color (rather than beige). All depends what look you want to achieve I think.

We really don't have a color scheme in mind right now.....just looking for some ideas.

Paint the ceiling the same color as the walls. It will enlarge the room.

I would paint the vertical part of your ceiling, the sloping part, the same color as your walls to give a vision of a larger room. Would also add balance to the headboard. Bedding color is a personal choice, but I think you cannot go wrong with white comforter. Then you can colorful blankets or quilts. Look at some Ralph Lauren comforters if you want prints. I bought a very lovely RL comforter in a dark red/beige combo, which will really look super on your sleigh bed. Also, you buy some larger lamps. The ones you have are too skinny for the large bed. Finally, some nice artwork or prints. And i'd paint the walls a lighter beige. Hope this helps

Paint the walls and ceiling all the same, maybe a grater taupe to go with your bedding. Definitely need a chandelier with some weight and color of your furniture along with some weightier lamps on the end tables. An area rug, chair, and some pillows on the bed with an accent color or two. And of course the curtain panels with some interesting weighty rods

Know you like your furniture, but consider changing out the bedside tables and lamps. It all looks too 'matchy-matchy' and you need to make some size adjustments too. This chart should help improve them.

You have luxurious bedding and you need some oomph! This wallpaper or similar would look great on the ceiling edged with very simple crowned moulding. Then paint the rest of the sloping ceiling and walls to match the background colour of the wallpaper. Example:

@Mark Mischak - I love your description "Art that you will be afraid that someone will break into your home and steal". We have purchased art at a local auction house in Detroit called DuMouchelles, any suggestions on great places to shop for art?

Did you drive the art home up Woodward or did you have them deliver it?

DuMouchelles is a great place and it has been a while since I lived in the Detroit area. I know there are galleries downtown and in the Birmingham/Royal Oak area. Art in the Detroit area tends to be more progressive. The College for Creative Studies may be a good place to look in their annual show. There is a nice gallery in Suttons Bay if you make it up to my neck of the woods, it's called the Treeline Gallery. I personally like Jackson Hole for art. Happy hunting.

Hello, i agree for certain, paint the ceiling. A rug partially under the bed will frame out your bed and bring in more color to work with. Two accent pillows in front of your, now pillows will help. Use your bedding and add to it. Teal family, would be nice. Geometric window panels as close to ceiling as possible, will add drama. See if you can find larger lamps, maybe with some metallics or shimmer for the texture in your bedding topper. Mount the tv on the wall. Add an upholstered chair or bed bench with upholstered seat for impact an use. Also a piece of art over the bed. It will be your special place.

Any thoughts on possibly doing a grass cloth type of wall covering on the wall behind the headboard as an accent wall? Do you think this would look okay? Does anyone have any experience with grass cloth?
