Could you also post a photo of the refrigerator wall, and the wall opposite the stove? That will help us get a feel for what additional space you have to work with. First thought is to get a stackable washer dryer, keep existing cabinets if you have no budget, move the w/d into the corner, center the stove between them and the cabinets, add extra cabs on either side of the stove, a microwave hood over stove, and open shelving to the right and left of stove. That's all pretty low budget, and a new countertop, fresh paint, and a new sink, faucet, and handles will do wonders for the overall look.

There's also a large storage area where we hope to relocate the washer/dryer and hot water heater. The door to the dining room is located at the end of the washer wall, on the refrigerator wall, and we were thinking about moving that door way down toward the refrigerator and closing the other up-and then create a closet around the area where the washer dryer and hotwater are presently located - that way we could avoid the costs moving them - sort of like a closet that would open up for the washer dryer.
