You're definitely on the right track as an admirer of Ikea! They have great stuff, at a wonderfully affordable price. Use their lighting, it's great! I'd like to see you wall mount a couple of their night stands on the wall, as floating night stands. Select a pair that will adapt well to this use. Place an Ikea rug at an angle under part of the bed, but with most of the rug showing.

Billy bookcases are my all time favorite Ikea item, and I always use them with the added height pieces.

For your bedding I would select a neutral quilt or duvet and duvet cover, and then accent it with pillows and a throw at the foot of the bed. Or you could use a different duvet cover (unstuffed), folded at the foot of the bed.

I apologise in advance and of course opinion is always personal and subjective, however, am I the only one who thinks this style of bed is very '70's motel'? Love the space though, great apartment!
