It looks to me that the steps don't have to be as narrow across as they currently are now. I would widen them to be the same as the porch landing. What is to the right of the front door as far as interior space? It would look better with a window added to that side as well. I would suggest a width equal to one of the larger window openings to the left. While you are at it, would the interior wall space allow you to change out the small window for a larger size? If not, then landscaping can help that "awkward" look that you mentioned. Is your roof black? (and staying?) From what I can see, it looks in good repair. Where are you located ( for landscaping and regional style)? Everybody's winter pictures look ready for some spring green. May as well see it at it's worst, right? With everything still in hibernation, it looks like a blank slate.

Thanks for the feedback. There is a kitchen to the right of the door with a stove, etc on that wall-so no chance of a window. The small window is a bathroom window and it looks to me that it could be enlarged. The roof is black and is only 2 years old. I live in Atlanta.

Your house could swing to a more traditional/farmhouse style or towards a midcentury modern look. Which do you prefer? For traditional you could paint the house a more bold colour and add shutters in a white and match your trim to this. For midcentury you could paint the house a lighter colour with a dark trim, and build in raised square flowerbeds to add detail.

Find a nice rich historical color for the body of the house, paint trim lighter value or white, bulk up the steps and porch, new stain for front door, pavers or some type of stone for the path, stairs and landing, new, larger house address numbers on body of house, not posts. Consider hiring landscape architect. Trust your gut and make it your own.

i would add a fence around the yard, add shutters with a vibrant color, blue or something that is traditional but not plain. paint the front door, and trim all the windows and door with white molding. also consider painting the house on a whole it is much to grey. Paint the steps and add a walk way of the same color, maybe interlocking brick and add some natural grasses that have some purples in them.
