I really like so many things about this space, and how inviting it looks to spend time in. Especially the lack of upper cabinets, the wood on the island, and the open space on this side of the island. My question is about the shelf between the stove top and hood. I understand that it is part of the Viking. Is it a full shelf, or an open grate? I'm wondering if the air flows through it to the hood, or around it.
