Need help for my entrance way and formal room

I am having a dilemma with choosing hardwood or porcelain tiles for the entrance way and the formal room.
The entrance way will have tiles and then it will go to hardwood, from the formal room right through the hallway to the entrance of the kitchen. (See the attached floor plan) My idea is to have everything tiled (entrance way, formal room, hallway and kitchen) and only have hardwood in the family room. My husbands idea is to leave the floor plan as is. Please help.
