What brand/type of black paint is best to use to paint over a stained and polyeurothaned staircase railing? Is there a way to paint WITHOUT having to strip it first?

I am having my stairs redone. They just put in new oak risers and treads. Risers are painted white, and they stained the treads and rails a Minwax brand ebony and I don't like it. I wouldn't let them seal it before I did some more research. I love your stairs. Can you tell me what you used? Brand and color specific? I would appreciate it so much. They are coming back to finish on Monday.

Sorry, can't answer that. You would have to ask a painter.
