Repainting kitchen cabinets

Have Quality brand kitchen cabinets and want to repaint the lower ones black and leave the uppers white. Should I have a professional do it ( the company we bought them from can do it) or can I attempt it myself? Leave it to the pros? Will I regret doing them myself in the long run as far as durability? Any recommended products?

I have seen way too kitchen cabinets that were repainted by unqualified painters or homeowners that used the wrong products. The brush strokes are evident and the paint chips or flakes within a few years. A cabinet finisher will take the proper steps and use a machine applied lacquer finish that will way outperform any other application. I would recommend the pro here.
