It looks like you have quite a large space, would you consider a U-shaped sectional instead? We just did this for our basement - my husband & I each have a "wing" that is long enough for us both to stretch out, with plenty of space for the kids. We can fit 9 or 10 easily, which is great when the kids have their friends over. We call it the TV Pit - it would probably have been too large for our main living room, but for the basement where it's all about lounging and being comfy it works out great!

I have considered a u shaped sectional.... Would you be able to share a picture of yours?

I just took this one - my daughter is in the for scale (and because she dreams of being famous, so Houzz is her first stop :) ) I will also admit that it's been a long Winter in the North East so the kids have spent a LOT of time in the basement, so forgive the mess!

You have enough space for a sectional - I wouldn't recommend U shape though - the access is limited & no walk paths. If you like to entertain a lot, adding few chairs would be nice as well - friends like to have their own space instead of sitting next to each other. As far as leather goes - everyone I know that have a leather sofa cover them with a blankets (myself included) - too cold to sit on if wearing shorts etc - personal preference. For a great basement desings check out Candice Olson - she is known for incorporating sectionals into her designs.
