I am placing a bookcase in my living room that will be very close to my open kitchen. Will it be too "matchy" if the bookcase (actually a pair) matches the stain of the kitchen cabinetry? What if the stain is only slightly off (I'm thinking that would be worse)? I was hoping to stain the book cases (which have a very similar crown molding to my kitchen cabinets) a shade darker than the cabinets, but the stains they offer are either nearly the same as my kitchen, or painted black or white. I don't think the white or black will go with the warm brown and autumnal color palette I have chosen for my living room. Any suggestions?
