Do the white curtains look good?

I want a lighter feel, but not sure if these are the right curtains for the dining room.

Still like the darker curtain panel. The rod and rings helped to update the look. Also like your glass jars! ( BTW, I Figured out how to change my username so I am no longer gseattle.) The crystal lamp would look better for now. It gave the room a brighter look. You could try the 4 paintings grouped on the window wall if they are a small size. Also, there are some really great rugs at RugStudio.com. Look at Transitional style, color blue. You could get one with the floral pattern. I think you are on your way!

Here are the solid cream, ( I am not a photographer) not sure about the sheers. Changed things up in the entry & buffet table. The other side of the room, please excuse the mess on the counter! Also, curtains I found for the spare room.....hmmm thinking about them.

The white looks okay, but I might try something more of an earth tone and with a pattern. Good luck.

What about the curtains your mom liked? Maybe they would look good in the LR. I think the shiny curtains would be took much. Your LR is not that formal.

I took them back! I think it's the dark blue that is throwing me off. I started a idea book of dining rooms and I'm not sure but I think the pattern is neutrals with dark furniture. I am not in love with the satin ivory curtains. It sounds stupid but my bedding is this and love these colors and would like them throughout the house.

I liked the white curtains with the blue flowers. Painting your walls a nice shade of blue will keep your house traditional but more serene.

Ok, here is my living room rug and I love it , I can't figure out how to get the navy blue to work for me with these colors in the rug.

I was under the impression that you liked the Farinelli house above. I don't think the brown rug works in the dining room. I think the plain drapes are better in the LR or the ones you like at Walmart For a touch of blue in the LR, you can just change out the pillows on your chairs with a darker blue. Keep working on your idea books!!

I do like the Fainellli house, there is a clash of colors with the rug and navy blue. That is my issue. I would really rather not have to buy all new things and try to use some of what I have. If I did the navy for the living room, I would have to buy new curtains, rug, and pillows and accessories. That's a lot for me. Plus I love the rug. I tried moving it to the dining room because of the size. It is going back to the living room. Darn it, I like the curtains but think I have to find them in another color.

take away that white book shelf..so doesnt belong. move the dining console to wall beside window in that space maybe? less is more the hutch and table are busy enough. i would keep the window treatment very neutral as well.

since there is no light fixture over the table i would move it all back toward window wall a foot, so there is equil distance between the table on both sides.,

@flair lighting, which light fixture are you talking about? I do not have enough room for the console under the picture. You wouldn't be able to walk in the dining room if I did. All furniture is placed as best as it can fit or it would have to come out completely. I love the blue curtains but I want a cohesive look throughout the house and my favorite room is the wood stove room. I don't have anything else navy blue.

I only have a glass ball lamp and a brown one that are pictured. I'm still confused?

Oh, my booby lights! I hate those! They are actually brown with amber colored glass! I have been trying to convince my hubby to replace those. The amber colored glass do not put out much light and we have 2 in the dining room and 2 in the kitchen. They don't sell just the glass or I would have bought them and painted the brown silver.

So those lights are one on each end of the table, hence why the table is where it is. Ideally, I would like to take the chandy and move it to the center of the table. Husband says no! So I am dealing with what I have! Trying to change his mind.

Ok here is my bedroom and maybe that will help with the style I would like for my dining/kitchen & living room. But I did paint the bedroom tan, everything else is the same!

Why can't you find replacement glass for the chandy? Is it an unusual size? Did you take one off and take it with you shopping? :)

2 1/4 fitter i bet which is standard vanity, fan, and chad glass. go to a local lighting store and look in there westinghouse, or parts books.

I bet if you spruce up the rest of the room, hubby will wake up and say the chandy needs to be moved - as if it was his idea in the first place. I've been married 30+ years. That's how it has always worked for me! :))

I thought flair lighting was talking about the flush mount lights they are the same as the chandy. I could paint either but was afraid to ruin it.

no just plug up the socket holes! and you can take down the flush mount and just paint the ring the same color....while they're down....swap them lol.

The problem with that is some idiot put in electric coil heating in the ceiling. If we were to move the chandelier center of the table we aren't sure we wouldn't cut through and ruin the heat in the dining/kitchen or else it would have been done in the first place.

Is it in an attic space you can crawl to to see what the area looks like? Maybe the coils are not over the spot where you would need to cut.

I am hoping so and am going to try to change the husband's mind. I swapped the glass on the chandy above the "island" to a white glass. It's the flush lights that I have to buy new ones for & I don't know if I want to spend the money on them.....it's an ongoing issue!

It's hard for me to scroll up to see (and then remember, lol), the colors in your drapes. Do any of these strike your fancy? Take the drapery panel with you when you go looking for a rug. Keep posting pictures!

Hi. Remove the white shelves and other things in that corner of the room. Cover the seats of your dining chairs with a light color that looks good with your dishes. Could be a pale blue or green or a red print - whatever is fresh to you & works with your dises. Then get curtains to go with the chair seats. Probably a cream color would be good if you don't want a color.
