Buckets??!!

Our city offers 1 free rain barrel to homeowners. We haven't hooked ours up yet, so can't vouch for them. May be something to look into, though. It connects to gutter downspout.

Usually the end of the downsprout is a good place to catch rain water.

Can't argue with the downsprout idea UNLESS you got downsprouts like ours. The downspouts are connected to the gutters, the gutters always glog up which means the downspouts are useless. A better solution ???? If your yard has a slope then consider an underground well water tank. This will be ideal for us

Curt, re the clogged gutter, that's why DH is hesitant to hook ours up! Our yard doesn't have trees on that end of property, but neighbors have several large Buckeye trees and a crazy Maple. Also, in winter it would be one more thing to disconnect and adjust to stop freezing. At our age, we want LESS maintenance! We do have pop-ups from downspouts out into the yard to get water away from foundation and spread water around the yard. Have to clean those regularly, but no big deal as no ladder is needed for that! Lol
