Boy, you and I should have lunch. We did an extensive remodel to our 1932 Spanish home in SF. I can't recommend an architect in your area, but I'll tell you one thing we did that made the addition seem like it's always been there. In the public rooms on the first floor, the walls are 8" thick and plastered. We replicated that with the addition and it is seamless. We also added beamed ceilings to match existing for continuity. Thanks for the tip! This one doesn't have beams, it's all rounded ceilings, barrel style vaults... but I love the idea of replicating the wall thickness.

I am doing an addition to my 1935 Spanish revival in the SF Bay Area. I would love any suggestions and tips. I will definitely take into consideration the wall thickness.
