As the architectural firm we were not involved in the furniture selections. If we have the opportunity to find out more information about the table from the homeowners, I will be sure to give you an update!

I love fireplaces - any kind, but I just don't like the television on top of them. Heavy sigh. No offense - it is a beautiful room - but I would never put the telly there :)

glanzerc - we agree with you! At all efforts we try to avoid designing a TV above a fireplace. Not only does it detract from the beauty and comfort of a fire, but the viewing angle is not ideal. This home has three formal fireplaces in other parts of the house (parlor, dining room and master bedroom). This fireplace is in their family room and had some flexibility on the formality. Directly behind is the kitchen. Building the TV into the masonry was a conscious design effort to avoid seeing cables, connections to the stone, shadow lines, etc and to simplify its presence.

The TV location can be challenging when designing a space. We discuss options with our clients and develop a design solution on a case by case basis. Many times the TV is placed in a custom built-in. If you flip through our projects you will come across a few other ways we have incorporated TVs into the design.

I completely understand - I just thought your fireplace was so gorgeous and the fireplace distracted from it. Don't think I don't love my TV cuz I do :) Just want to look at a gorgeous fireplace!
