KITCHEN Decorating and Paint help needed PLEASE

I really like European, or French country, interiors. My husband and I just purchased this home and I would like to change the look of this kitchen. Any recommendations on how to decorate this kitchen and what colors to repaint it? I have attached an image of the types of kitchen designs I like best.

The CURRENT kitchen is pictured above in the two photos with RED walls.

That is a beautiful room! Wish it was mine! :). When I look at those pictures, my eye goes straight to that red which, I feel, overpowers the room. I recently painted my kitchen "Spanish Olive" (CC 606) Benjamin Moore. It is hard to tell exactly but I think it would go good with the tile and blend in better.

I would also think about changing out your light fixture (even tho it is nice) but maybe change it to one similar to the one yup have in your inspiration picture

This is a lovely kitchen. Personally I think you need a deep color on your painted surfaces. The beige wall blahs the the room. I would go for a rich deep color. I think a change of fixture is a good idea also, however the chandys in the inspiration photo are to formal for this room. (Legs of the island and hardware). I like the barstool choice in second photo. Have you thought about adding some drama to your ceiling?

    Thanks everyone! Great suggestions!
Shirley, a deep color like what? Also, I would love to do a different fixture. Just not sure which kind.

I just snapped these for you. I will try to look for the name of the paint if you like this, but just to give you the idea of what I mean. A also, I love my wood on the ceiling. You could do something similar to your inspiration phone, that would definitely add interest to your look. I've never attached a photo before, it doesn't seem to be working.

I see how it works now, uploads at submit. This paint is a dark brown. I have a beautiful eggplant color in my office. Some rooms can pull off deep color like this, I think yours is one, since your cabinets are light. I apologize for the poor quality photo.

One more thought you might consider... If you feel like all walls dark might encumber the room you could always use a lighter color on other walls from the same swatch. I say this not knowing what the opposite walls of the room look like.

Get rid of the red and beige paint, and the light fixture. However, the two chandeliers in the photo you like are a bit much for a kitchen - you'll be cleaning them non-stop. The backsplash is boring, too. Try a blue-grey paint on the walls. and with different pulls and knobs, chairs and a new chandelier, you'll have a great look!

I love the look of coffer ceiling with wallpaper in the centers. I like the bling of the inspiration pic. Had you thought of making the hood more European? How about french blue walls. I like something I just read. Did you ever get a smile when looking at beige walls?
