What piece of furniture to put in front of a window

Hi, I'm moving into a new apartment and trying to choose new furniture. I'll go for a modern style, mostly white pieces. I have a wonderful view from the bedroom, with a top-to-bottom window, so I don't want to put a huge piece of furniture there and hide it. On the other hand I don't want to leave that space unused.
I work from home and I thought of putting a desk there, but I would prefer to put the desk in the living room. Maybe a chaise? The horizontal length of the window is about 5 feet, shown on the left in the picture. The right one is a door leading to the balcony. So I don't want to block the right door, although I could block it a little because it opens from the right.
The bed will go in the back, imagine it behind the spot from where the photo is taken.

I don't know if I can (or if I should) put curtains. There doesn't seem to be any space for a curtain rod.
Any suggestions?

Absolutely no window coverings of any kind. I cringed when I saw the computer. This space screams, I AM A RETREAT! Find a super comfortable chair or chaise, a small side table to hold your cocktail, Read a book, meditate or just sit there, with the aforementioned cocktail and enjoy your view. Unsure of the giant canary, it's a little scary, but definitely needs a large piece of art .

Keep it simple, just add a small table and couple of chairs to relax and enjoy the view.

Some open mid-century modern wood armchairs with great architecture and a small pedestal table with a terrific floor lamp in the left corner. Great space - view envy :-)

OK, no desk. :) I have the same view from the living room, so I'll just put a desk there. The living room is small, and I don't want to occupy too much space in it with a home-office area, but then I'm not too crazy about sleeping and working in the bedroom and spending 24 hours a day there.

Darla, I'm still smiling at your "This place screams I'M A RETREAT!" :) OK, so after everyone's suggestions, I'm convinced, a retreat it is.
Groveraxle, I love that you even put a glass of wine on the table!!! So that's what I'll do, a comfortable armchair or a chaise, and a small table for my wine and a book.

I know that Barcelona chairs are quite popular but they don't seem too comfortable to sit and read a book for a couple of hours. I could be wrong, I've never sat on one. I was thinking of something more cozy, like the ones Cyndy and BeyondFrames suggested (the first 2 or 3).
My color scheme is white. The floor will be white, I'm replacing that beige carpet shown in the picture. I would like to add some color with art and small decorative pieces, but I'd like all furniture to be white in the apartment.

Cyndy, I love the wicker chair and table you found! I am thinking of getting that (in white!) for the balcony. For inside the house I think I'll get most things in white leather, if I buy something in fabric it will probably be grey fabric.

Oh, I forgot: Cyndy, I meant good luck to ME narrowing it down. :) You've all been really helpful already.

This thing is designed for outdoors - so very durable - yet is apparently soft and comfy. The low profile and roomy 2-person style might work if it would fit. When you move or have your own pool it can live there!

LOL. FWIW, Kat, I didn't see your post till after I finished shopping your art into the space. I'd've had it done sooner, but I decided Maryann needed a damn wire chair, and you have no idea how hard those are to shop. Maybe worse than plants. Not worse than frilly, curly chandeliers, though. Or anything from Restoration Hardware.

OK, I just got carried away. Sorry. But Maryann, you need a very open, airy chair to preserve the view.

Groveraxle, I noticed the empty glass before I even read your post. :) Ha ha
You have a point about the wire chair. I think I'll look for a furniture store that carries it and sit on it to see how comfortable it is.
Or I'll get a chaise, or a comfy armchair with an ottoman. I'm looking at all the above links and pictures, such stylish pieces!
KShoa, that first painting in grey tones is breathtaking. It would go perfectly in the apartment, probably in my living room. I'll look at your website for more paintings. Thanks!

Maryann, you're a "fun" dilemma-person :) I actually had the exact wicker chair, side table, and a coffee table too, on my Florida balcony, but nowhere even close to your view! I spray painted the chair white (it was natural when I bought it), the side table turquoise, and the coffee table fuchsia - you can get away with that in Florida!

Do want to recommend the spyglass, as Kathleen MK suggested, or a good pair of binoculars. Then you can spy on the people in the yachts (just don't get caught!).

Look up, Cyndy. Those colours are fashionable. They can also take the Aussie sun without washing out.

Chookchook, I agree! Those colors NEVER go out of style! Wish we could have a peek at a real Aussie patio/lanai or whatever you call it there (hint hint!).

Maryann, I'm a real birder (have 7 feeders in my yard, down from 11 - feeding my flying gems can become expensive!) So I like your wire birdy table - and no worries, it's "see-through," so if you love it, go for it! I would, however, buy a comfy chair (you want to spend some time there without developing an aching back, right?) and not a wire chair.

decoenthusiaste, it definitely looks confy, but I will probably fall asleep 5 seconds after I lie down on it. I'll already have a bed in the room, and I'll be able to enjoy the view from the bed. If I put this in the retreat area, I think it will look like I have two beds in the room.

Hello, the space may be too small to handle a chaise. Consider a smaller version of a chaise that would be an upholstered bench. The low seating will not block the view and provides a spot to sit and enjoy the view. Best of luck in your new home!
