I agree a small narrow table would look good. Maybe move the vase with flowers next to it.
Don't do collage of pics around mirror. Just looking at your pics, I think the artwork over the sofa is too high. Can you send another pic?

Since your entry is narrow, I would get a very large floor mirror with a beautiful frame and a live plant .

If you do get a table under your mirror, I agree that it would have to be a very narrow table, less than 12" in depth if possible: from what I can see, your door is right against the wall and I feel like a too large console (anything above 12" in depth) would look like it is in the way (even if it isn't with all that space).

Personally, I'd go for a set of two paintings, one on each side for symmetry; something like this as you like plants:

Then, under the mirror, I'd fix a couple of vintage iron hooks (such as ) for scarves, jackets, hats and bags or the occasional umbrella...

Morris, it looks to me like you have a sufficient width in your entrance hallway for the 14" deep console I showed above. Can you tell us please what the width actually is?

It definitely looks like there is enough space; I just noticed that the front door is right against the wall and I personally feel like it would *look* in the way, even if it isn't, just because when you open the door, it would in front of you, even if quite some feet away ― but some people aren't bothered by that so, if it isn't your case, do get a table: they're great to drop keys and the decoration they display helps set the mood of the rest of the place!

Some things you just don't know until you try. So while I wouldn't try a cabinet that's a solid piece, I think that an open legged console of only 14" depth or less (they DO exist) would be worth a try. But before ordering one, I'd rig something up, or borrow one from a neighbor, just to see what it actually looks like in person.

i would do vinyl wall art, murals, or something associated with the city you live in for a trasitional feel...paint that wall black for drama and use a colorful vinyl wall design

It is about 5.5 feet from bannister to wall. If you have more pictures I would love it!!

With 5.5', you have plenty of space for a console, and even one slightly bigger than I showed you. Do you have electrical there for lamps? I love the "In this house" vinyl art and might apply it elsewhere, keeping the mirror (vertically) over the console.

My first suggestion is to ditch the large fake plant in the huge pot. It is a distraction, not a decoration in that space. Could work elsewhere just fine, but not in that entry or at the bottom of the stairs.

Personally, I wouldn't fight the lack of space by trying to add furniture. I would accept it and use a mirror that is much larger and hung as a vertical rectangle. I would go for simple and dramatic and then stop. The space isn't big enough to be more, so let it be good at being an attractive walk-through. (If not a mirror, a very large picture)…

Add a runner and ditch the little-itty-bitty postage stamp rug by the door.. Have one made the exact right dimension by ordering as carpet that you have cut and bound, if the width of ready-made runners is too narrow.

Keep your entry simple and classy. I love the natural light coming in from above the door. I love the warm color of the wooden floor. You start with very good elements.

Sounds like you have lots of ideas coming infor the entry. I'm more concerned about the living area. The piano is in a drafty space near the door and partially on an outside wall. It needs to be the focal point of your room and sit where the sofa is. Move the sofa under the window and then see what you think.

Morris, I like the suggestions above. As a thought, it appears your ceilings are high. Consider turning your beautiful mirror to be vertical, not horizontal and adding a narrow semi-lune table below. (of a size that could accommodate a tall lamp with a candlestick base.) Best to you.
