    Hi Lightinggal!

    By the looks of this picture it looks as if the Ipe was left unfinished. It looks as if it is nicely transitioning to its patina gray. A lot of people enjoy this look, not to mention it won't require any other maintenance other than the occasional brush and wash.

    Thanks to advantage lumber for their informative response. Indeed, this deck was left unfinished so that it would require minimal maintenance. The other option is to oil the decking to maintain the original color, but approach requires a lot of maintenance.

    how can we know this wood is sustainably harvested? I love the look but the tree grows extremely slowly
