    Definitely stone. More organic.

It depends on the style the owner and designer are trying to accomplish. A more modern look could call for straight edged brick where as a natural setting would suit a random pattern of stone.

I have a white brick fireplace right now and it looks beautiful. I think it adds a lot of charm to our home :)

It definitely depends on style the person is trying to convery, but brick (when kept in its original color) tends to give the home a touch of its own.

There's definitely something organic, earthy, and cozy about a stone fireplace. Pairing earth with fire. :)

I love the simple clean lines of the brick fireplace, either painted or not. A stone fireplace has it's place in a very rustic environment!

Granite and marble are stones too. Stone does not have to be rustic.

I like stone better than brick. My fireplace is more formal than rustic, though.

Stone for sure. I am selling a house in Alamo California, the owners used cobble stones from the old streets of San Francisco

I personally prefer stone, but then I like huge fireplaces and a rustic and/or casual style. For a more formal style or a smallish fireplace, brick is lovely.

I love stone. Brick works well for country, traditional and farmhouse style.

I've had brick; we custom designed the brick layout pattern. But now we have grey Granbury stone in our new house; I like the textures and unexpected color patterns

Love the stone for a more homey warm feel personally! However the painted brick is classic and can go in more directions!

I love brick and stone, but if replacing I would do stone.

I like them both, but don't care for the hearth on the brick version! The stone is much better suited to a cabin atmosphere. Photo of our fireplace surround that I built, with my wife's painting over the mantel.

What is the style of your decor. To answer so randomly would be reckless not knowing what the overall aesthetic of your home and your personal style is. Could you provide more information. There are so many options to choose from.

I have unpainted brick. I really like it

J Design, it's just a poll question for which do you prefer. It's not something they're adding & want an opinion.
