Anyone good with native plants? I live in Georgia, Zone 7. I am redoing our foundation bed (ie. up against the side of the house, running from our garage to the front door.) Right now we have the ubiqitous hollys and boxwoods. The taller hollys are on either side of the front door and I'd like to replace them with a native alternative of similar size and shape. It is in full sun with clay/acidic soil. The space is about 5 feet in diameter and I don't know what can go there that doesn't have a huge spread. It needs to be a manageable size, or something I can prune to a small tree shape. Don't want anything with a root system that might eventually hit the foundation or the sidewalk. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!
