Need help with curtains!

12 years ago
Hi there,

I am having the hardest time choosing curtains for the living room. The house is open concept, which is what is throwing me off, I think. I want everything to be cohesive without being so matchy-matchy. The walls are painted BM "Revere Pewter" at 50% formula, and the couches are ivory with indigo/navy ikat pillows. In the dining room, the valences are a jacobean pattern that have a natural background with gray, indigo, mustard, and teal (which is my accent color throughout the living, dining, and kitchen). I have battled between bringing in a third pattern or just doing a solid (either in white or a color - like mustard.

My questions to you all are;
1) Would introducing a third pattern be overkill?
2) If not, should I go for small scale or large scale pattern? What kind of pattern should I look for?
3) Should I spare myself the misery and go for plain white?

Thank you!

P.S. Forgive the lighting of the photographs.
