We are moving into a new house (current tenant's furniture pictured) and need advice furnishing our living room. We have a formal sitting room on the other side of the wall with the fireplace but need family room furniture for the room pictured. It's a long area that is shared with the kitchen (the other photo attached so you can see other end of the room).

Restoration Hardware has a killer sale on a Lancaster leather sofa we have been drooling over, the only thing is the color they have is slate (described black with grey undertones). We have a baby on the way so I would prefer leather and trying to steer away from lighter colors in this main living area where baby will be.

Any suggestions? Thoughts on a slate leather sofa? The one we are eyeing is 112".
