I must say ,I can't believe these lighting fixtures still exist. They are so ugly and out dated. But it seems there aren't many more to choose from. Sorry just my opinion....

HI -- The first one looks the best to me ... bronze is the popular metal for exteriors this year . Look at some of the fixtures at Restorationhardware.com . Galvanized metal is also a modern good choice . Just remember to go to a bigger size of what you choose .

I like 3, and 5, they're mounted differently so one might beat the other in relation to its position and the mailbox. Is the mailbox rectangular?

Your house is really cute. I really like the dark shutters and brick. Are you married to the gold mailbox? I think if you went darker on the mailbox, house numbers and outdoor light, it would go better with your shutters. Also, look for a larger outdoor wall light.

Thanks a lot ladies! Mollysmom: yes the mail box is gold and rectangular. Didn't know if to replace it or keep. Erica suggest to go dark. I might try that.

You might want to do a whole house think-through before you buy. We matched our light and door hardware to existing light fixtures in the foyer- antique brass. Put up black/iron window hardware. Have chrome in bathroom and shiny brass on interior doors, and we went stainless in the kitchen. I'm having a heck of a time figuring out how to pare some of these colors down.

The entry doors hardware is also gold. So hard...

I like the shape of #1 best, but more important is the scale. Make sure it's about 50% larger than your existing one. I'd just paint your house #s and mailbox black....then paint the shutters black too. (Rustoleum is great).

You can paint the hardware too. Black is classic and works no matter what the finishes are on the inside

p.s. agree with Erica, your house is really cute and it looks like you've got great trees. It's going to feel very welcoming whatever you put up!
