Remodeling kitchen

I am trying to remodel the kitchen in my first home and could really use some help with ideas such as cabinets, flooring, appliances, countertop, & back splash.
My budget is roughly $5,000.00

I appreciate your input.

I would go with a laminate countertop as suggested with a Karran undermount sink [karran.com] that has a 50 year warranty. Laminate at Home Depot will cost you between $21 and $30 sq ft plus the installation fee that was $500 for our countertop that was 47 sq ft. There was a haul away fee for the old sink and countertop of $140, plus fees to disconnect and reconnect the plumbing and install the new faucet of $140 each that we didn't pay as my husband did all the plumbing. The 30" sink cost $299 plus $140 to mount it to the countertop. Our new countertop and sink cost right around $2,000. The new faucet that we got from Amazon was another $160, and the backsplash cost around $550 for the tile, thinset, grout and misc other things. We installed it ourselves.

There might be just enough budget to update the countertop with another laminate, the hardware, and paint the cabinetry.

Replace the counter top, sink, and faucet. Use laminate. If there is money left over, get a counter depth refrigerator. Maybe next year you could replace the oven and hood. Painting is cheap so you can do that yourselves. Having a bit of time between improvements is not necessarily a bad thing; it gives you some room to research and consider options for flooring, etc. Congratulations on your new home.

One way to change the look of any kitchen without breaking the bank is to update the counters and fixtures as suggested above... I would also recommend finding some bold and unique cabinet pulls/handles to create some interest in the space. If you wanted to dress it up even more... you could look at adding a simple crown moulding around the top. As it is a very small kitchen, it should be fairly cost effective.

I would paint the wall! I think the sink is fine--undermounts are over rated, and you have to get a special one to work with a laminate counter. A new faucet and a good quality oven hood is worth it however.

If you do go for a new sink,Kohler vault sinks are nice because they are fairly reasonable and are top-mounted stainless apron-front sinks. I have a small kitchen and that gap in front of the sink is used all the time, especially for filling, dumping out heavy pots. They have a line of cutting boards, drainers, etc. to fit too. You can get them through Home Depot or Amazon.

Honestly, I would just repaint, get new hardware for the cabinets and replace the appliances. You could get a decent stainless steel contractors pack that would include all kitchen appliances for around $2000. Paint and hardware would be another $500 or so. I think those things alone would create such a massive transformation in the room that you wouldn't need to go through the expense of redoing the cabinets or countertops.

New appliances- new paint- new cabinet hardware would be on the top of my list.
