Sorry-the tall backsplash space. And we are putting hickory, hand-scraped hardwood in after close.

OMG, Kkellg, my baby is almost 11 years old, and she has arthritis, is partially blind, and is scared of everything--but nothing so much as "losing" me! She's my little shadow, and I adore her! Your poor little boy with all of his medical issues...awww.

Is your dog a Lhasa Apso? I lost my Tuffy two years ago I still get tears in my eyes when thinking of her. She lived almost 15 years old and was the sweetest dog in the whole world.

No, he's a shih tzu. I tell ya, I wasn't sure I could get out of bed for awhile when I lost Maddie. When I lose Duke, they may have to medicate me. He's my buddy and really wasn't until she was gone. She had issues so she got most of the attention. Poor Duker had to wait until 11 to have the charmed life. He's so spoiled my kids call him "princess".

My good girlfriend painted this from an actual photo. Our house in Chicago was periwinkle blue. You see from this posting of my new kitchen in Texas, I'm partial to blue. :)

I think open shelving for decorative pieces or platters. You could put the oil painting on the shelves if it is the correct scale.

I think the Nicolas Clear Glass Dining Table in the light cappuccino wood stain would look amazing with your cabinetry, I would pair it with the Zola Dining Chairs in the Coral fabric finish.... just a thought, hope it helps.

How about this large modern wall clock? There are also wallhanging antique case clocks that woud look nice. I think the shelves are a nice idea as well.

I think I'm adding more work and research on you, lol, but I think a tile mosaic mural would look so nice there. I know you would have to scrape off some of the tile backsplash to make room...but if somehow you can get someone to do that photo you've posted in tile mosaic it would be a focal point and sentimental value. INSTEAD of full color I would have it done in grayscale to coordinate with your cabinetry and surrounding backsplash. Don't worry that the focal point is not over the range because you have an open layout. Just a thought. Other ideas have you heading in the right direction so far as well!
