The dark grout color against the light tiles is giving this a very pronounced "checkerboard" pattern that is not very attractive and immediately draws your attention to the grout lines as well as "dates" it. You cold try one of the grout colorant/sealants out there and reseal/paint your grout joints a lighter color that was closer to the color of the tile and see how that looks. That would be a fairly inexpensive and easy "fix" to try. There are also companies that color grout joints, but I would think it would be easy enough to do yourself (I want to try it myself one of these days. Grout really should be resealed anyway! There are also companies that can reglaze tubs with a new color (they can also do that to tile, but I believe that the grout joints have to be reglazed in the same color as the tile, so unless you do it all in a white, it looks pretty "artificial") Both Mapei and Custom Building Products make these colored grout sealants, as well as plenty of other companies out there. I also meant to add that you could then, of course, paint your vanity a cream color that coordinates with your tiles and add some nice hardware and add new updated light fixtures and a new wall paint color!

I'd say eliminate all unnecessary patterns, like patterned rug, bulb-after-bulb lighting - try one sleek unit....don't use the grout color on the walls which will reinforce grout's color... if you're wanting to paint, try sample of the tile color to wash it all into one large mass. Simple rug and art.
