Thanks! The tree is really in bloom! The floor is hand-made and each paper will be flat with the same pallet but just different variations. I took a couple of pictures tonight to give an idea.

I think a glass subway or mosaic tile that picks up on the floor and countertop colors in its mix of colors will add that final bit of sparkle you are looking for.

I'm not sure if this is the perfect color - it is from the Solis tone series of glass tiles at Lowe's. But it is a place to start. It seems to work well with your colors, but monitor colors are so deceiving, so let's just call it a ballpark idea!

Karen, can I ask you how you gather all the pictures and post them as one picture?

I have an iPad, so I use the pic collage app. There are lots of other collage apps, such as pic stitch, but I like this one best.

If you want to try something fun and funky for your backsplash, Porcelanosa tiles are different and fun. They are a European brand so they bring some different aspects to a kitchen or bathroom. There's also Centura tiles that are very popular in our Showroom.

I love the floor color better than any of the little busy patterned backsplashes. Can you use the same tile?

I made the floor myself! There is a lady who has moved from Texas to Oregon who has a company that teaches you how to use Kraft paper to decoupage any surface including floors and walls. It took me all of last summer to make 450 of the tiles. Not really excited about making more! Here is a link to her site if you're interested! http://www.decoupagefloors.com/

Those last two give the kitchen a Craftsman vibe. Not sure what the rest of your house looks like, Roberta, but is this the look you are after?

P.S. When we took the Wilsonart laminate off once the wall came down, we couldn't find a match. We loved the flooring but since they no longer make the product, I looked for something that looked similar. Nothing came close so that is why I made it myself.

Is that a pot light in the ceiling? Or, are you changing that light out? If so, you could incorporate some Asian style there with your choice of light.

I think what you have done in the kitchen so far is a perfect complement to Asian decor - good work!

I agree that if the view from her window is as, most of the time, nice as what it is now, the window should be the star.

Thanks so much. That light is really cool! We have pocket lights in the ceiling. I am thinking maybe changing the bulb colors to something more blueish to lighten it up. Right now, the bulbs create more of a golden hue. They need to be put back into the ceiling since we're finished painting the ceiling!

We'll try the CFL's. Thanks, Karen. It is not difficult to create the floor tiles. The technique allows you to use either squares or random sizes that you actually rip off a roll of Kraft-type paper.
For the 450+ tiles that I needed to cover the floor, it took all summer long! I worked outside on my table, and used the sun to dry off the paint. Lisa has DVDs to show you how to do not only this design, but those that look more like marble. I just hope that I actually like it once it's down!
