HI -- I think it would be a bad idea and it will look cluttered . I have never liked houses where you have to go through the bathroom to get to the closet . I don't mind going through or past the closet to get to the bathroom but would not like all the closet stuff exposed --- just too messy looking . Also clothes that have been in the environments of bathrooms usually get a smell to them . Not sure what your room looks like without pictures so ..... But if you post pictures and or a floor plan , that would help .

It depends on many factors. You really should have doors on the closet no matter what!

Here's a pic with a wall included. Hubby wants to remove the walls separating the toilet and vanity and I also think it's a bad idea but having a hard time convincing him :).

The first house that my husband and I ever bought was built in 1968. For the closet/bathroom in the master you walked through a closet area which adjoined the bathroom with no door separating the two (there was a door between the bedroom and the whole room still). Anyway...our clothes always felt damp in the morning, even though we used the vent religiously during showers. It was a cheap house, so we were sell it just fine, not sure I would want to still live with it though.

HI -- Thanks for the floor plan . The closet in the bathroom is small , so question is -- do you have room in the master bedroom for a new closet ?? How big is your bedroom ? If it was me I would put a nice free standing tub in that closet space , and then the wall beside the toilet could be removed or cut back. This would make a lot more sense and would add to the value of your house rather than take it away with the plan your husband is thinking of doing . Sorry hubby , but your idea would just be bad design !

Separate function - separate space. What does hubby think he will gain by removing the walls? As I see it removing the walls will eliminate a place for the toilet paper holder and some places for towel racks. He will gain a great deal of visual clutter.

I have stated elsewhere my support for closets through bathrooms, but never actually in the bathroom. If it matters, I believe it will hurt resale. I would actually consider a pocket door too, because the closet entry is in a direct line with the bathroom door to the bedroom.
