So, I found this range hood that can be turned into a display case. All the technical stuff is concealed in the stainless pipe in the middle, and the rest of the unit offers "shelf space" with additional lights... look at the pics.

I'm thinking of gluing some glass mosaic tiles to the back & side walls so they amplify the light, and putting down some dark material for the base (black acrylic? other?). Then it's on to finding the perfect decorative olive oil bottle, or an oil/vinegar set, etc. Something that would play off the glass tiles and the lighting.

OR, I could keep it as all stainless steel, and use the metal surfaces for things like the "Click" magnetic spice rack set -
