Curved Stair rails

I love the curved stair rails. Are they a non-rot material like permarails or wood? I was told that to do weather resistant curved rails is very expensive.

    The rails are made of natural mahogany and are finished with epifanes finish (like wood on a boat) to protect against the salt air. They do require seasonal maintenance.
