Wall treatment

Love the look of this area. Is that wallpaper or a custom finish? I'd love to know how to recreate this. Thanks!

It's a custom finish painted by Simes Studios out of Chicago. Not cheap but well worth it because it made this area special for the clients.

HOUZZ should do an interview with Simes Studios! It would be VERY interesting to hear what and how they do their thing!

LET ME ADD FURTHER TO MY ORIGINAL COMMENT ABOVE!
The special wall treatment adds a personality and character to the very cool and rather impersonal atmosphere of the very well designed interior. Making this alcove inviting to live in, attractive in a significant way beyond pleasing proportions and gorgeous furniture.

The idea came from our studio for the painting.

I needed something very specific that would compliment a Meredith Pardue abstract painting commissioned for the family room. I found this book on art display I had in my library by Stephanie Hoppen.

I showed them this italian painter modern painting with scribble like writing from this Stephanie Hoppen book-and wanted the drips, the chalky like smeared background the watercolor like colors and black writing-I needed to incorporate the colors in the tile in the kitchen across from it , the fabrics, the blues and greens in table top and colors from the painting diagonal from where this mural would be.

He had to enlarge the scale of the writing and did his own interpretation of writing and was given cues on color from the fabrics I gave him that would go underneath, the tile from the kitchen and from taking a picture of the painting that would be diagonal across the way.
