Actually you have done pretty good with what you had to work with. I like the metal roof. And I like the fact that you removed the shutters. They were useless.

So besides doing something goofy (like, alas, those stars) sometimes the best thing is to accept the limitations of the structure as it is. In that vein I do like the idea of some kind of dramatic tree or planting over on the left there, not too close to the foundation. Where are you? Maybe a magnolia - something with an interesting shape. Or even a white pine if you are pretty far north.

You could do a covered porch or pergola that goes from just the right of the front door all the way over to meet up with your deck if you wanted to construct. But that would leave a square still above the porch there in the upper left.
