I am renovating a tiny tiny house and thinking of using either vinyl siding or Hardie Board instead of wood. I am looking for low maintenance, not having to scrap and paint the house every 5 to 10 years. I live in the mountains of North Caroline with close to 100" of rain a year. Last few years we have been having good size hail storms and high winds. The temperatures range from 85 highs in summer to 0 degrees lows in a cold winter, the wind chill factor has been as low as -10 degrees.

I am not worried about resale, would like input from pro's and home owners and their experiences with vinyl, Hardie Board or wood.

I would appreciate any words of wisdom
