Yes it was a squeeze but I managed to make a false wall and slide the washer dryer stack in it. It is behind the door as you walk in, and I will be painting the covers the same colour as the wall. So I do like it although I am still trying to see if I can make some kind of sliding door or hidden panel when not in use.

We have a large closet in our kids' bathroom with bifold doors that conceal our washer and dryer. We've added shelving on one side and above for extra storage Makes total sense to do laundry near the bedrooms.

If the space is organize right, it should be easy enough to do. A great way to help make it work would be to make the door a sliding door like in the photo below.

Our laundry is in a half bath on our main floor. We stacked the appliances, surrounded them with a pantry cupbard and another cupboard above. The hamper and soap etc is in the pantry unit. I fold on the adjacent table...will you have a place to set down clean loads? Will there be space for air drying items? I use a Target expandable floor rack with detachable legs that also lives in the pantry but I can see it getting in the way in a busy bathroom.
