Non-invasive ground over?

I have a small 40' diameter island off my backyard. I recently excavated to clean it up a bit and would like to seed the sloped perimeter with some sort of ground cover (for ascetics and erosion prevention), but I don't want it to take over the whole island. Any suggestions?

HI -- You could use a no-mow Eco-grass or clover . Check with your local garden nursery for ground covers for your growing zone .

Irish or Scottish moss or wooly thyme. Not sure of your hardiness zone, light requirements, etc., but I don't believe those are invasive.

As far as i know, trees and shrubs in general are not invasive...they pretty much stay put, but you need ones that can also tolerate a lots of water. Here's a link you can try for more info http://homeguides.sfgate.com/waterloving-trees-shrubs-25213.html
