We are quite fortunate to have both. Normally, we watch news and every day shows on the TV; films and series on blue-ray or via the slingbox on the 'white screen'.

We have both as well. The only way to get a kid in the bathtub for more than three minutes in my house for a few years was to run vintage cartoons on the big white bathroom wall over the tub. Mighty Mouse, early Superman, super old Felix the cat...lots of laughs and a super clean kiddo!

Oh good thinking, Barnhart Gallery! At my house we threw in rubber duckies and those wind-up sharks to ensure clean kids but the 'toons would have worked a lot better!

We're strictly TV here, and only one at the moment. We (gasp) have it in the bedroom atop an Art Deco sideboard, lol! Once the never-ending reno is complete we do plan a 42" for the lounge though.

considerably less maintenance with a tv,although pricey, picture quality is also better. projectors advantage is it's large wall estate for lower price, but the compromise on quality, and high maintenance cost will make the t.v. my first choice.

We have a projector only. In a small cottage we didn't want to give up the space required for a decent tv, which we rarely watch anyway. The projector is mounted above French doors to the garden so out of sight unless looking for it. We currently use the opposite wall as a screen but our next project is to build bookshelves across that entire wall. A screen will be mounted on the top and pulled down in front of the shelves as required. For news updates we use radio and iPads.

I have both. The reality is the projector gets used very little compared to the TV. The contrast and color is better on the TV. The projector is 1080p and is good for what isn't is, but I am actually thinking of selling it and buying a large LED TV to replace it. Projectors were great several years ago considering their cost compared to a large (80"+) TV. Now TV prices have dropped so much that they are competitive.

For the 2 hours a week we watch TV, our 20 year old CRT boob tube (with OTA converter box) works fine.

I would definitely go with the T.V. over the projector which is hardly ever used.

We ditched the screens & we love the family time & hobby time we found. Love no screen

I do not have a TV or a projector. I rarely watch anything but when I do I watch on my computer monitor.

Everyday shows on regular television. If there's a big game or a movie, then we result to a projector

Projector for the BIG events. New TV's are of course quite good, but we have found that only a projector of good quality produces the 'movie theater' experience. We love our Theater Room!!!!!!

Tv mainly. I would however incorporate a projector for a home theater

How about placement? Do you have to worry about glare if the tv or screen is across the room from windows?
Mine has a matte finish for that exact reason. I'm good no matter where I may want to move it.

I don't even own a tv. I watch everything online so I use a projector.

My 80" Sharpe IMO far exceeds the projectors

Wish I had something this cool in my house. A projector and screen that magically come out of the ceiling at the flick of a switch. That would be where all of my friends would want to hang out all the time. Maybe someday I'll have this installed in my home. http://www.merlinstv.com/en/catalog/3790-TV-and-Video
