Cedars would look good as a screen on the left hand side. Just make sure that you aren't blocking too much natural sunlight from your windows. Also leave enough space to walk down the side of the house without having to squeeze through.
As for the front of your patio, I would go with the same stone as your walls. It will frame the house well.
