Picture Rail Molding with 8' Ceiling

My home is a contemporary style with 8' ceilings. I want to install a rail system for hanging paintings.

Does wood picture rail molding fit with plain sheetrock walls and 8' ceilings, or should I use one of the modern rail systems (which are a lot more expensive)? The photos I've found all show rooms with higher ceilings.

I would use airplane wire,like picture wire across the room that you tighten on either end ,cheap and easy and modern

HI -- You can use the wood rail if the cost is better for you . I would just paint it the same color as the wall . It should be fine and has nothing to do with the wall height .

Why? The reason they had picture moulding was because the walls were plaster and hard to put holes in without them crumbling. What you have there is fine.
