Need advice on my area rug?

We recently replaced our floors with tile I have been looking for area rugs to put down. I found this design and color kind of a dark grey on a light background beside my jewel tone striped couch does this work?

The rug is too small unless you move your love seat up so the front legs can rest on the rug. The rug should at least fill the space between all the sitting pieces of furniture in the room (or at least in the conversation area). You can also have it extend under furniture if you want, but leaving flooring exposed between pieces that should be grouped together does not work. Personally, I do not think the color is complimentary, but that is more a matter of taste.

The rug does need to be larger, unless you move the large couch down towards the love seat. I would darken your coffee table and add some gray pillows to your couches to help tie it all together. Good luck!

I find the colour and pattern doesn't work with your couch.I would suggest a beige or sand berber rug or even a traditional persian carpet in deep blues or reds would work.

I honestly don't care for that rug with your sofas. I would look for something with at least one color from the upholstery fabric to tie them together. As for the style, an oriental/persian rug would keep with the traditional look, unless you are trying to bring your room into the 21st century, then you could try a graphic or even a floral.

Agree with the sizing of the rug. It may be that the photography has distorted the colors somewhat. If the colors do work with the sofa I think you need to replace the pillows and the table lamp with larger, more modern ones in lighter tones.

can we see the whole room...what is across from love seat?...it would help. I think that all the pattern on the sofa calls for a more simple rug. there is not enough to pull it together.

Hello: please consider something with less pattern as I find that those two patterns are conflicting with each.

Too much pattern with those sofas. Let me find you something more suitable. I'll be back.

If you do a pattern, make it organic. Otherwise, I'd go plain.

I like the second one, gray with green undertone

Honestly...the floors are gorgeous...the rug is very nice...but the jewel tone couch and loveseat date the house and they don't blend with your wall color at all. I say replace those with something more contemporary and you have a winner. Good Luck!

You have a lovely home and you obviously are drawn to Persian style rugs so you might like something like this first rug which works better with your furniture than the ones you have tried. The second rug could also work nicely. Good luck from Montreal!

ever thought about slip covers for the sofa?.. I like the blue rugs above. the one on the right would be great.

I would actually keep the floor bare, the room seems bigger and its much easier to clean . If you want absolutely a rug, I would go with a light unicolor Berber style. It wont clash with the busy colours of your sofas.

Keep it a solid color...no patterns, I can see too many patterns in your house already..Take it from an interior designer

I'd go plain too, keep it solid, simple is always better in this case.
