Seems like a space for formal dining. It might pay to have it staged. Make sure you get all the clutter removed and all storage area are well organised.

It should be a formal dining room.

The dining room table can be a 30" x 5' size with the 30" side against the wall. Put two chairs on either side of the table and that should leave you an aisle space of about 3'.....If I am wrong and the 5' length is too much, then get a slightly shorter table.

I highly recommend the formal dining room set up because this is what buyers are going to want to see.

Kind of an awkward space! Overall, I'd go very clean, simple and modern. The room seems so long, and then the sofa is squeezed into that little corner. You might consider bringing the sectional down into the nearer space and allowing the chaise to act as the logical room divider. (I suppose your tv/cable connection won't allow you also move the tv???!) The small rug doesn't really work in between the two larger rugs. Actually, the larger rugs don't really do much for the room either! If you've got nice maple floors, then maybe forgo the rugs altogether to better unify the space. Your sectional is very modern, so maybe a clear or metal thin credenza table rather than the traditional looking wood cabinet.

Thank you all for taking the time to look at my question and answer with so many wonderful ideas. Dytecture, you are correct, this was posted multiple times for some reason and I was not sure how to delete the other posts. I wanted to answer some of the questions, and ask for some more of your great ideas!

We did try putting the table and chairs there, as it was designed to be the dining area, but it was claustrophobically small! I will include a floor plan so you can see.

I love the idea of a mirror! Which side would that look better on? Would the other side look better with a tall bookcase or one that is not overbearing. I am just so scared I buy something and it makes the place look even smaller! Maybe putting a couple of small chairs with a small table is the way to go. As you can see I am very confused!
