Just bought our home 18 months ago and realized after closing, the budget for a beautiful modern kitchen was not in the budget! The house was built in 1991. I love the house; just the kitchen and bathrooms are dated. The kitchen top granite is called Tan/Brown in which I feel doesn't match with all the white on the floor, back splash and cabinets. We thought about black cabinets with a back splash that had some metallic and glass! But black seemed too much for a kitchen if you wanted to resell the house and didn't seem to match the Tan/Brown granite. As you can see in these pictures, lots of white. Your ideas are welcomed!
