The empty space where the cabinets end ( not where the refrigerator goes lol the other end) I can't think of what to fill that with and not too interested in a desk. any advice? !

Looks like you are missing a pantry in your kitchen or is it somewhere else? If you don't have a pantry, you could put one there that is a contrasting color and looks like furniture. A painted pantry similar to the one below (but not this color). Use a color that you are using in your décor. You could get a second hand armoire and repurpose it. Or build in a pantry

rclc727, check craigslist...you could probably pick one up for virtually no money and repurpose it just to what you need :)

It looks like the stove goes in the hole on the long wall with space for a microwave or vent fan above.

HI -- It looks like you need a pantry . You could find a big antique cabinet for a pantry or see if you can add one that is the same as your other cabinets or have one built . Or you could just have a bakers rack if you don't need the pantry and want something more decorative .

You could do something similar to this...

I would think about a dresser or display cabinet. You could put some pretty items on display and use the extra storage for items used less frequently but are heavy (like serving platters or electricals like a breadmaker)

Another option would be to start a family photo wall. My mum had one of these and we loved it. Choose a fairly inexpensive frame and buy 20 or so in a standard size like 4x3 or 5x7. Actually print out some of the digital photos you take of friends family and vacations and eclectically hang them. Depending on your hanging skills you could do different sizes.

If you like the idea of pictures but hanging them is harder, Ikea do wonderful picture shelves. Only about $10 each, you mount them on the wall and photos in frames sit on them. It works really well if you mix up the frames on this kind of shelf. (Ribba picture ledge)

My last kitchen looked just like this! The builder stopped partway down the wall with cabinets to save money. I added a floor to ceiling cabinet on the end and the upper cabinets and used them as a pantry. I put in the desk. You don't want one but why I mention it is that I corked the area between the desk and the upper cabinets and put in a white board. The white board was a place to write messages to each other and the cork board held the calendar, sports schedules, pictures etc. I also installed a key and mail rack. Kept every thing off the island, refrigerator, or end of the counter. You could use some sort of buffet and not install the cabinets.

It looks like a new home so I would find out where the kitchen was bought and get a pantry that matches the cabinets custom made rather than putting in a piece that doesn't necessarily match. In the end it will probably cost you the same and look much more uniform and upgrade the look of your kitchen. Keep in mind, unless your store bought pantry matches your kitchen table and chairs then you're going to have to coordinate a lot of wood to match in one room. Good luck!

I think the point is to not 'match' but to mix the woods in the kitchen like groveraxle's examples. I think that furniture adds personality to the kitchen rather than getting an extension of the builders cabinets IMO. Here is another example of mixed woods. Naturally the poster would do the woods in her style.

Mine was a new home and when I researched cabinet pantries most are only the width of a single cabinet. There is too much space for that to be economical. To fill the rest of the wall you would need 3 units. That's why I did a combo of cabinets and movable furniture.
