Marble Support Structure

Do you have any details on how the Marble is supported? We are completing an island with a 6ft unsupported expanse of granite between the base cabinets and the legs and the GC is having trouble figuring out a support method.

We often use a steel support frame for long expanses. The thickness of this marble is an edge detail. This island only has a wood frame supporting.

Thanks for your question. It is hard to tell from this picture but there is a finished wood support piece that runs horizontally under the island. You can certainly simply use plywood to support a 6' span. I would check with a marble fabricator for construction advice based on the weight of the chosen material.
