Cobbled

I am planning on ordering CleftsStone (the best) Brazilian slate in brushed as I heard that had least flaking and was gauged but I'm not sure if I should go with cobbled as that sounds like they sanded it or something to make it smoother???

Thanks for considering our beautiful stone tiles!

A "cobbled" (aka chiseled or chipped) edge is hit with chains to provide a rustic edge the surface has not been brushed, sanded or smoothed, so it can be somewhat sharp. A "Brushed" (aka "leathered") surface is softened with abrasive brushes on the surface. This will provide a nice silky surface, and may soften the color. We also Antique (both cobbled+brushed")to provide a chipped yet silky finish, or Tumble (antique in a rotary tumbler) to achieve beautiful results for our design clients nationwide.

There is no wrong answer! A basic cleft or honed surface, nicely installed. is perfectly lovely for some, while refined cleft+brushed, honed+brushed, antiqued or tumbled finishes are perfect for others!

Please contact us, we'd be happy to answer any questions you may have, help you make sure you get the perfect result for your project.
