    They are in an A/V closet in the lower level.

    The lower level of the house? If this is so, does that mean to watch a DVD you'd have to go to the basement to put it in? Thanks.

    You can use infrared repeaters (Check out Microsmith Hot Link) to send signals from your remote to an equipment room and you can use DVD changers to store your movie collection.
