What is on the fireplace? A painting?

Looking for ideas of what to do with a fireplace like this where the face is currently covered with small 4" tiles.

This home's original 8'x3' carved mahogany room divider / screen was repaired, restored & mounted above 60" gas fireplace.

Wonderful - so much better than covering the fireplace with river rock....my first idea.

The owners really wanted to preserve this screen since it was a cool / googy element of the home before the renovation, but clearly it was in the way where is stood (see picture above). So they had the idea of turning it into an art piece.
