how about a glass trivet? if you put it an inch from the edge the marks won't show hardly at all, not sure where this is on the counter (next to the stove?) . so sorry!!!!!!

Quartz isn't really restorable. That's a spot for a cutting board or plant now.

Quartz will stand up to a lot, but this is pure abuse. You are required to use cutting boards and trivets with all types of counters. The burn wouldn't come out of Corian either. You might find someone to cut out a section and replace it, but you'd be cutting inside the home and generating abrasive dust, and run the risk of the new section not matching the old.

Yes it can be fixed but will require someone with an extreme amount of expertise.

We would suggest that all Quartz nothing hot is put on the the surface directly

Because it is abuse to set anything hot on any counter. It’s being careless and ill prepared. Trivets are required. And trivets should always be adjacent to the stove when actually cooking. Get it out of the drawer and on the counter. Proper planning prevents “accidents”. Just like actually sharpening your knives before use keeps you from having that dull knife slip and send you to the emergency room. And mopping up dropped water keeps you from slipping and cracking your noggin.

The incidences of accidents is inversely proportionate to the effort one takes to pay attention to basic safety.

Wow - who knew someone could get their panties in such a knot over putting a hot pot on a counter! I don't think Diane was asking to be shamed by an "accident"......I was wondering the same thing Diane, as it appears one of my kids put the pot on the counter. Did you ever find a remedy?

Li Chen it is etching in the second lot of photos, the burn will not fade as it is damaged the stone from heat. Yes it may darken in color but this is because the counters are contaminated with oil etc.

But your is definitely a burn, which explodes some of the quartz from the surface making a little more porous. Enabling the oils to sit into the surface and coloring the stone to the original slightly.

Hot pots and pans shouldn't be put not only on quartz countertops but on any countertops (I am aware it was an accident). Damages are inevitable. This is the place now for a cutting board, for example. Make sure you always have a cutting board and trivets handy. Really sorry about the accident.
